WHAT ARE OVAL EUROS?
The history and design of Oval Euro Stickers...
Many license plates in Europe have similar designs, making it hard to see the difference between them. To help differentiate, the United Nations proposed the idea of stickers unique to each country. The one, two, or three letters on these 'euro' stickers indicated the vehicle's country of origin.
The original design of oval euros required the sticker to be composed of one to three capital letters. These block letters were black (on a white background) and printed on horizontal oval stickers.
Many custom oval euros in North America still use the simple block letters of the original oval euro stickers design, but since the stickers don't actually indicate a country, the designs can vary. North American oval euros will often have smaller text indicating what the initials stand for, as well as web addresses, colored letters, or colored backgrounds.
